If you’re a parent then you’ll know just how important nutrition can be to your growing child and likewise, just how difficult it is to get the right sort of nutrition into your child. These days it’s just so difficult to spend the time to prepare and cook whole foods, TV dinners and other forms of convenience foods hit just the right note when you are coming home from a long and stressful day. Add this to the fact that most kids are really interested in eating anything that has had all the goodness leached out, or alternately where all the nutrition has been overwhelmed by other substances, and the fact that you’re in a hurry to get the meal over so that you can finally settle in for a bit of peace, possibly even to do some more work that you didn’t get to finish at the office, and it’s a pretty good bet that this is the type of convenience / processed food that you’ll be eating as well.
Unfortunately, almost all processed foods are at the root of all our bad eating habits, even though these days most of us have some level of awareness of this and do try to be able to at least put a halt on this. Its just not possible to do it cold turkey, and indeed, depending upon your lifestyle, you might be struggling to do it at all, but if you know your it’ll be that much easier for you to make an informed decision.

It’s not wise to make a huge change all at once as this puts too much pressure on an already stretched lifestyle and if you’re determined to engage with a better healthy living plan, you need to be looking at how you will fit this new style of eating into your regular daily schedule. Don’t worry if you lack total commitment to it now, plan the changes gradually and spend a little time each week reviewing your progress, remind yourself of those food nutrition facts, check out what changes you have managed to incorporate into your eating plan over the past week and decide if you need to consolidate these for another week before making any further changes. Remember that on the whole, too many processed foods are bad for you. Along with artificially sweetened beverages, these things can create an unhealthy living style for you and your kids.
