Cause of Hair Loss
If you find that you are beginning to lose your hair, you will need to establish the reason for this. Once you work out what type of hair loss cause is affecting you, it will be possible to begin an appropriate treatment.
There are many possible causes of hair loss, some are equally applicable to men and women whilst others may affect mainly men or mainly women. A typical example of a major hair loss cause which affects both sexes is poor diet.
In order for you to have healthy, strong hair your body needs a lot of vitamins particularly vitamins B6, B12, C, and E. If you have a deficiency in just one of these vitamins then you could experience hair loss. If you think that poor diet may be the cause of your hair loss, you should change your diet to accommodate the right amount of the necessary vitamins. You can achieve this by including lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, drinking lots of water and balancing this with the use of dairy products and poultry for proteins and calcium.
Another hair loss cause which can affect both men and women is tension or stress. Our bodies can tolerate a certain level of stress, but this is individual for each of us and any stress or tension which pushes us over our tolerance level will have a detrimental effect. One of the ways in which our body can tell us that something is wrong is by creating hair loss.
Although
most causes of hair loss are not due to an underlying medical problem, there is still a possibility that there could be something wrong physically that requires treatment rather than just a change in diet or lifestyle. So if you are losing more hair than you would normally expect to, it is recommended to consult your doctor to ensure that this isn’t being caused by any underlying medical problem.
For example, there are certain medications that will cause hair loss as a side effect, if your hair loss is the result of a medicinal side effect, it may be possible for your doctor to prescribe you a different medication which will have the same health benefits but less side effects.
An enlarged thyroid is another potential causal factor when it comes to hair loss. However, if your doctor establishes that there is a medical reason for your hair loss, then most conditions can be treatable quite simply, although it may mean that you have to take some form of medication for the rest of your life.
The experience of losing your hair can be a particularly traumatic one, and unless you have experienced it for yourself, it is hard to appreciate what the sufferer is going through. One thing to hold on to though is that no matter which hair loss cause you are battling, these days it is becoming increasingly likely that you can be effectively treated.
